The Independent Media Commission (IMC) has given Klan Kosova television a deadline of 30 days to complete the necessary business documentation at the Kosovo Business Registration Agency (ARBK).
The KPM said that the failure to act in accordance with the regulation of media services, within the defined period, will result in sanctioning measures, according to the law.
The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade of the Government of Kosovo on June 14 filed a criminal complaint against the Trading Company, Klan Kosova LLC.
The criminal complaint was filed with "the claim that in the business certificate, at the change of owners, Pejë - Serbia and Gjakovë - Serbia appear."
ARBK, based on legal acts, has decided to suspend the business certificate of Klan Kosova television, until another decision. The KPM, in the meeting held on Friday, has clarified that the KPM regulation for granting a license for media services requires that the private company be legally registered in Kosovo.
The KPM said that it was notified by the ARBK on June 14, 2023, that it has suspended the business certificate for Klan Kosova.
" Given that the media service provider, Klan Kosova, is licensed by the KPM on the basis of this business certificate, which calls into question the legality of this business, it recommends that within 30 days from the acceptance of this decision complete the necessary documentation for holding the broadcast license in accordance with the regulation for media service providers" , said Jeton Mehmeti, chairman of the Independent Media Commission.
For the suspension of the business license of the private national television, Klan Kosova, there have been reactions from local and international media organizations. On Friday, reactions also came from the ambassadors of the European Union countries in Pristina. /REL
