Serbia must bring to justice those responsible for the attack in Banjska near Zvecan, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said on Tuesday. Police sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed in a terrorist attack in the village of Banjska near Zvecan. Former deputy leader of the Serbian List, Milan Radoićić, claimed responsibility for the attack. Kosovo has demanded that Serbia extradite Radoićić and other members of the group.
Ahead of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, Rutte said they expect Serbia to bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
"My predecessor worked with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on this issue. I also spoke with him and he told me that he would cooperate. We expect the Serbian authorities to do their part in this regard," he said in response to a question from a TV1 journalist about the case.
The Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Office has filed charges against 45 members of this group. Meanwhile, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has made Radoičić's extradition a condition for continuing dialogue with Serbia. Rutte said that they are monitoring the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and that NATO will assist in this process.
