The court hearing in The Hague against former KLA leaders continued with the presentation of the closing arguments of Rexhep Selimi's defense.
Defense attorney Geoffrey Roberts stated that the Hague Prosecution has failed to prove Selim's involvement in the criminal offenses included in the indictment.
"It cannot be proven that Mr. Selimi contributed to the crimes set forth in the indictment. A guilty verdict cannot be reached for Mr. Selimi in relation to the NKP. The prosecution no longer has any evidence to secure a guilty verdict for Mr. Selimi. Each of the allegations that the prosecution had were baseless ," he stated.
According to Roberts, based on the evidence presented during the trial, none of the charges brought against his client stand.
In the end, the lawyer requested that Selimi be declared innocent and released.
"No other decision can be justified based on the evidence presented in this court case," Roberts concluded.
