Analyst Ben Andoni spoke about the tense situation in northern Kosovo and the challenges that are emerging after the promulgation of the law on foreigners.
He explained that, although Kosovo is administered and protected, at least partially, by KFOR and Kosovo security forces are more present in the north, the existence of channels for the penetration of weapons shows that the problem remains large.
Another challenge that will soon emerge is related to the law on foreigners that Kosovo has announced. He warned that Serbs living in Kosovo, but using documents from the Republic of Serbia, will now be forced to give them up, just as was done with license plates.
According to him, if they do not do this within three days, they will be forced to leave or will be forcibly removed from Kosovo.
"You can't blame Kosovo for anything. There is constant pressure from the Serbian authorities, directly and indirectly, through various means. Only three weeks ago, weapons bases were found again. When you consider that Kosovo is guarded and administered, at least partially, by KFOR and that Kosovo forces are much more present in the north, the fact that there are channels through which these weapons penetrate shows that the problem is really big.
"Another issue that will emerge in a few days, around mid-March, is related to the law on foreigners that Kosovo has announced. In this sense, Serbs living in Kosovo, but using documents of the Republic of Serbia, will now be forced to leave them, just as was done with the license plates. If they do not do this within three days, they will be forced to leave or will be forcibly removed from Kosovo," Andoni said in QUO VADIS.
