Peter Sorensen, the European Union's special envoy for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, paid a visit to Kosovo today. He first met with acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani. Then with opposition leaders.

Regarding the meeting with Osmani, the president stressed the importance of a dialogue process focused on mutual recognition. She also criticized Serbia's positions, saying that they constantly violate agreements.

" The dialogue process should be focused on mutual recognition and that the success of the dialogue also depends on the equal treatment of the parties. Serbia has consistently violated the Brussels Agreement and the Ohrid Annex, violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo, committing acts of aggression, and opposing Kosovo's membership in international organizations. The selective interpretation of the agreements harms the process. The elections proved the democratic maturity of the state and the functioning of institutions in full compliance with European standards. This is an important step towards restoring full and equal partnership between Kosovo and the EU. We will continue to work without further delay to advance Kosovo's candidate status ," Osmani said.

Meanwhile, in the meeting with Kurti, according to the government's press office, the prime minister emphasized that the election result has produced a new democratic legitimacy, which guarantees political stability, further strengthening the functioning of the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo.

" This high legitimacy, directly derived from the will of the citizens, ensures fair, credible and principled representation of Kosovo in the dialogue. As for the other party in the dialogue, the Prime Minister assessed that the same cannot be said for the leadership in Serbia ," the announcement states.

Among other things, it was announced that at the meeting, Kurti expressed Kosovo's readiness for full normalization of relations with Serbia and constructive dialogue in Brussels.

He also stressed " the essential importance of the withdrawal of the letter of former Prime Minister Brnabić, deposited with the European External Action Service (EEAS), the handover of the terrorist leader Milan Radoić, for whom there is already a 160-page indictment by the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kosovo, and the signing of the Basic Agreement and the Implementation Annex as a legal guarantee and good faith for the way forward. He underlined that with the full implementation of the Brussels Basic Agreement and the Ohrid Implementation Annex, the dialogue produces sustainable results ".
