Tensions in the north, Serbian protesters attack the car of minister Liburn Aliu

A serious event was recorded in the north of Kosovo. It is known that the car of the Minister of Infrastructure, of Kosovo, Liburn Aliu, has fallen victim to the attack.

This morning, Minister Aliu entered the building of the municipality of Leposavic. He left after half an hour and the Serbian protesters threw red paint in the direction of the minister's car.

Aliu visited the newly appointed mayor Lulzim Hetemi, who had not left the municipality building for 16 days. Meanwhile, Serbs are protesting in front of the municipality building in Leposavic for the 16th day. They are demanding the removal of the mayor and the Special Unit from the municipality.

The situation in the north of the country has been tense since May 26, when the Kosovo Police assisted the mayors of the three northern municipalities, Leposavič, Zveçan and Zubin Potok, to enter their offices, despite the resistance of the local Serbs. The situation escalated on May 29, when local Serbs clashed with KFOR soldiers guarding municipal facilities. That day, 30 KFOR soldiers, 11 from the Italian contingent and 19 from the Hungarian contingent were injured. The international factor has made continuous calls for the reduction of tensions and, finally, some have demanded the holding of new elections in the north.
