The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, stated that Kosovo strongly supports the Peace Board initiative, emphasizing that the country's experience in building and maintaining peace can serve as an example for the world.
Osman's statement was made to international media, after the signing of the Peace Board Charter, in the presence of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, and other co-founders of this initiative.
Osmani emphasized that Kosovo comes from a painful experience of war and that the peace the country enjoys today is the result of international support, especially from the US.
“Coming from the Republic of Kosovo, a country devastated by war, and which today lives in peace thanks to American leadership, we are deeply grateful and proud to stand alongside President Trump in this new initiative,” said Osmani.
She stressed that she strongly believes in American leadership and the Peace Board's goal of achieving concrete results. "I strongly believe in the leadership of President Trump and his team. This is to save lives," Osmani said, adding that her generation has grown up as "children of war."
The President of Kosovo stated that Kosovo has over 20 years of experience in building and maintaining peace, as well as in state-building processes.
“Kosovo is one of those shining examples that can offer best practices for building and maintaining peace,” she said.
Speaking about the role of international organizations, Osmani emphasized that complex decision-making procedures at the United Nations have made it difficult to achieve peace, while the Peace Board aims for a more direct approach.
“With this new organization, I am convinced that peace can move forward through a less complex decision-making process,” Osmani said. She explained that this initiative does not aim to replace the UN, but to work alongside it.
"In our region, the UN has played a role primarily in maintaining peace, while when it came to achieving peace, the leadership came from the United States," the President declared.
Vjosa Osmani stated that Kosovo today is a safe country and that its experience can contribute to global efforts for peace.
“According to international organizations, Kosovo is one of the safest countries in the world,” she said, adding that “people's lives are at the center of this initiative.”
