Acting Minister of Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu and Kurti

The election of Dimal Basha as head of the Kosovo Assembly seems to have produced the first dissatisfaction within the Vetëvendosje Movement.

The acting Minister of Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu, who was also left out of Albin Kurti's party's list of candidates for MP in the February 9 elections, has openly expressed his opposition by resigning from his position.

Through a post on the social network Facebook, Aliu states that Basha is not at the level of the institution he will represent from yesterday.

"Dear citizens, I would like to inform you that I have just submitted to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti, my letter of resignation from the position of Minister in the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure. My resignation comes after yesterday's election of the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. Yesterday, after the vote for the Speaker of the Assembly, I informed Prime Minister Kurti of my decision. I consider that yesterday's election of the Speaker of the Assembly, the highest institution, where laws are made and the government is held accountable, is not in the spirit and at the height of that ideal for the Republic that has been and remains a reason for my commitment," writes Liburn Aliu.
