The newly elected Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Dimal Basha, expressed that he feels the great responsibility entrusted to him by the country's deputies.
During his speech at the plenary session, he stated that the Republic of Kosovo is built on sacrifices, while adding that the political impasse of these months served democracy.
"Today this republic remains independent thanks to the help of friendly states, led by the USA. For several months now, this Assembly has been faced with a challenge it has never seen before. But do not forget, that despite all the struggles, I believe that it has been a school that has served democracy and the emancipation of society," he said.
The new Speaker of the Parliament has called on political parties for cooperation and unification.
"Most of us differ by party, but citizens expect us to be united in our objectives, such as economic development, strengthening the rule of law, and above all, protecting territorial integrity," said Dimal Basha.
He praised the work done in the north of the country, saying that crime in that area has been minimized. According to him, protecting the republic is everyone's duty, while calling on Serbia to behave democratically.
