After the election of Dimal Basha as the new speaker of the Kosovo Assembly, the leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, reacted to the PDK that voted for Basha.
Abdxik said that this is a victory of ignorance and an unforgivable mistake of its supporters.
"Kosovo, as we never thought. A victory of ignorance and an unforgivable mistake of its supporters. However, this is their level. This is how they project the Republic. With these values, they have chosen to honor the voters and the people of Kosovo. LDK aspires higher. Kosovo must aspire higher. Political accidents and triumphs of historical ignorance will be overcome. One day there will be light," said the LDK leader.
Meanwhile, PDK leader Memli Krasniqi said he is not happy that Dimal Basha is today the speaker of the Assembly, but he said that PDK has kept its word. He further added that Basha is Vetëvendosje's choice to represent the citizens in the Assembly.
"From the beginning, we have offered our willingness to vote for a candidate who was not part of Albin Kurti's executive. At the first moment when Dimal Basha was proposed, we requested a 10-minute consultation with other groups, first of all with the Vetëvendosje group, just as we requested today, which was denied again for one reason and one sole purpose: to tell them to propose someone who at least the citizens of Kosovo would not feel bad seeing at the head of the Assembly."
However, Kurti and VV consider that the citizens of Kosovo are best represented by Dimal Basha. In a normal situation, in a parallel world, we would never vote for someone like Dimal to head the Assembly. We voted to unblock the situation, to break Albin Kurti's blockade and to stay true to the public word, because for PDK and for me personally, this is the most important thing.
Some moral values that have unfortunately faded, first of all from Albin Kurti, who has not held any of the positions he has held over the years, the rest of us must return them. We kept the word we gave today. Are we happy that Dimal Basha is the speaker? I don't believe that the Vetëvendosje deputies are happy either. You saw them with downcast faces because maybe they didn't even believe that it was happening. However, today we have a speaker of the Assembly. I really hope that we will also have deputy speakers", said Krasniqi.
