The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has welcomed the opening of the way to unblock the process of constituting the Kosovo Assembly, describing this as an important development towards restoring institutional functionality in the country.
According to the announcement from the Presidency, Vjosa Osmani hopes that this process will be completed as soon as possible in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and democratic norms.
She congratulated the new Speaker of the Assembly, Dimal Basha, as well as the elected Deputy Speakers: Albulena Haxhiu, Vlora Çitaku, Kujtim Shala and Emilija Rexhepi, for their good work, emphasizing that she expects the new leadership of the Assembly to work in the interest of citizens and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
The President has called on the Assembly to continue with the next constitutional steps and to proceed, as soon as possible, with the voting of the new Government resulting from the parliamentary elections held on February 9.
"The President welcomes that the process of constituting the Assembly has begun to be unblocked and hopes that this process will be concluded as soon as possible, in accordance with the Constitution. She wishes the new President Dimal Basha and the elected Vice Presidents of the Assembly, Ms. Albulena Haxhiu, Ms. Vlora Çitaku, Mr. Kujtim Shala and Ms. Emilija Rexhepi, good work in the interest of the country.
"The President hopes that as soon as possible, and in accordance with constitutional procedures, the Assembly will vote on the new Government that emerges from the will of the citizens in the February 9 elections," the Presidency's announcement states.
