Eliona Pitarka's alarm: The health system is trading with the health of our

Actress Eliona Pitarka has made a strong denunciation on social media of what she calls a "silent system" of abusive collaboration between doctors and pharmaceutical warehouses in Albania, describing this collaboration as "trading with the health" of children.

Pitarka's attention was heightened after a WHO alert about contaminated syrups, which killed 22 children in India. She emphasized that: "It is no coincidence that every child who goes to the doctor for a cold comes out with a long list of medicines. It is no coincidence that for every simple cough or fever, the parent leaves the pharmacy with 6-7 products. This is not care, it is trading in health."

She continued by explaining the systematic abuse, saying: “Let’s put it bluntly: In Albania, there is a silent system of cooperation between doctors and pharmaceutical warehouses. In theory, the doctor should prescribe what is most necessary for the patient. In practice, doctors often receive commissions from pharmaceutical warehouses… Thus, an abusive cycle is created: The doctor has an interest in ‘writing as many prescriptions as possible’… and in the end, parents are left with bags full of unnecessary medicines for their children.”

As evidence of this phenomenon, Pitarka shared a shocking message from a fellow pharmacist, who wrote: "It happened to me that I visited my son, the doctor wrote me a prescription, at the end when I told him that I was a pharmacist... Then he tore up the first prescription and started from the beginning!!! The climax is... Be careful, please do not take medicine without criteria for children!!"

In closing, the actress called for awareness: "And to protect it, we must be informed, skeptical, and conscious. Never hand over your child's health to a system that operates on commissions."

This reaction serves as a strong call for parents not to fall prey to what she calls the "cure-all culture" and to be skeptical of numerous medical prescriptions.
