As rarely, Vittorio Sgarbi, the former deputy and great critic of Italian art, has published on his social networks a photo with his Albanian daughter, Alba.
"In the hands of Alba, the tenderness of a daughter, which fills the heart of a father", he writes.
Alba has been for a long time a child that her father refused to recognize, although Vitorio Sgarbi had a romantic affair with her mother, Kozeta, an Albanian lyric singer.
Coseta was married to another Italian and for a long time the girl bore his surname. Only after he died, Cosetta opened a trial to give Alba the paternity of her real father: Vittorio Sgarbi.
Naturally, the controversial art critic, known in Italy for many such vicissitudes, initially refused to acknowledge paternity and the case went to court.
For Sgarbi's lawyer, Giampaolo Cicconi, this case was different from others because "the girl had a father". Sgarbi himself laughed at this story. For the daily Il Messaggero, he said a few years ago: "I have about 40 children: 4 in San Severino, 8 in Salemi where I am the mayor of the municipality, but all unknown." As for the then 13-year-old girl, he stated: "I know her very well, at first glance she may seem like my daughter. It's charming. My mother calls me from time to time, she also brings me to see her. When I meet the girl, I tell her that she can become an excellent nun, so she gets scared and doesn't come to see me for a year."
But in the end the mother, Kozeta, won the process, Vitorio Sgarbi started paying his daughter 2200 euro pension and gave her his last name. They even posed together in 2016 for the Italian weekly magazine "Chi". Sgarbi has shown that he feels happy for his three children (besides Alba, the art critic also legally recognized Carlo, 28 years old, and Evelina, 16 years old), also expressing pride that he has an Albanian daughter.
"I hit the mark. The children have become very good. Thanks to their mothers for being ladies. Alba, my last daughter couldn't be better. She is auspicious, elegant, serious and will marry only in the church, preferably soon. And then there are the Albanians, the people I prefer. I have always protected Albanians from the bad press, also for this reason I have an Albanian daughter".
