A model has revealed that her dreams of becoming a mother have been 'shattered' due to too many filler injections.
Jennifer Pamplona, 31, often hits the headlines online for her 'surgery-addicted' lifestyle, where she has spent more than $1 million (AU$1.47 million) on to look like her idol Kim Kardashian.
But now she has received the horrifying news that she has little chance of getting pregnant due to complications from her buttock filling.
"Now I see that I am being destroyed by something that I thought was a solution to improve my appearance. The suffering is great and the pain of not being able to create life is something I never imagined facing.”
Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is a substance used in the creation of dermal fillers, often to improve the contour of the skin or to help straighten teeth. It is also the alternative to increase the buttocks. However, there are risks involved, including inflammation and infections.
As a result, the substance can migrate from the injection site to other parts of the body, including the pelvic area, which can affect the functioning of the reproductive organs.
According to Dr Carlos Rios, the plastic surgeon who specialized in Jennifer's case, she started experiencing severe pain in her buttocks and legs after undergoing the procedure more than 10 years ago.
He spoke about the pattern and the complications he has faced as a result, in a documentary titled, "Addiction" and called her situation a 'matter of life or death'.
