Lady Gaga's father, Joe Germanotta, is rallying his neighbors to evict "annoying immigrants" who live near his restaurant and home on New York's Upper West Side.
The 66-year-old claims that they have invaded his neighborhood and even says that they are bringing prostitutes to the area.
This began to happen when the Stratford Arms Hotel, a block from his home, was turned into a shelter for hundreds of immigrants. Germanotta compiles a report of local residents' concerns about the behavior of immigrants in the area. He then plans to contact the police.
The businessman has lived in The Pythian building on West 70th Street for 35 years. There he raised his daughters Stefani – known as Lady Gaga – and Natalie. In 2012, he opened a restaurant in the area.
"Now 500 immigrants live in this dormitory. That's where the chaos started." Since the conversion, Germanotta says life in the area has taken a hit, with impromptu block parties lasting into the wee hours of the morning.
Both he and the neighbors are asking the police to take action and solve the problem.
Germanotta continued: “The worst is at night. The noise. It starts around 10 am and lasts until 4 am. They play music and race their motorbikes up and down the streets. This will happen for three years. That was the contract, I understand. But at least manage it. Put adequate security in place, have a police presence and a code of conduct. They are guests in our neighborhood and have basically taken it over."
He says that before the sidewalks were clean. But in recent weeks he says the surrounding streets have been littered with syringes.
The restaurant criticized the mayor's handling of the immigration crisis. "In my opinion, you should have suspended the 'sanctuary city' status until we had enough housing and then said, 'Yeah, OK, you can send more,'" he said.
