Kim Kardashian is facing new backlash after her daughter, North West, recently revealed a second finger piercing.
The teenager surprised her followers on social media as she shared close-up photos of her hand, which was filled with lots of jewelry, including two piercings on her fingers.
The 12-year-old first showed off the silver piercing while with her mother in Rome in August, The Sun writes.
Unlike traditional piercings, this one is more superficial and involves a small, flat-bottomed anchor that is surgically inserted under the skin to hold the jewelry in place.
Another photo showed the process of its placement, with a rod passing through North's finger.
In this regard, experts say that the procedure carries significant risks, especially when placed on the hands. The latter are prone to bacteria and can easily cause infection.
According to Healthline, dermal piercings 'carry a high risk of complications and this type of piercing requires careful aftercare.'
Many studios refuse to perform this on anyone under 18, citing safety and hygiene concerns.
