Emma Heming-Willis has revealed how the family is preparing for the serious challenges posed by Bruce Willis' illness.
The 70-year-old actor was diagnosed three years ago with frontotemporal dementia, a disorder that affects memory, communication and cognitive skills. He is currently in a specialized center, where he receives continuous medical care, 24 hours a day.
Emma explained that she has carefully planned every step so that the family can more easily cope with the most difficult moments.
She said this approach allows them to focus on supporting each other emotionally, without getting lost in the practical details when the going gets tough. At the same time, she is guiding their daughters, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, to understand and gradually adapt to changes in their father's health.
The family announced that, following his passing, Bruce Willis' brain will be donated to scientific research. Emma described the decision as "emotionally painful, but scientifically necessary to understand frontotemporal dementia." The goal is to help medical and scientific research into a disease that has so profoundly affected their lives.
Rumer Willis, the actor's eldest daughter, shared an update on Instagram, explaining that it's not easy to answer questions about his condition. "Nobody with FTD is truly well. But dad is doing well, in his own way, for someone living with this disease," she said.
