New Year's Eve is widely celebrated around the world and many of us look forward to it to start a new chapter in our lives.
Among the many traditions that accompany this holiday, such as baklava, turkey and filling the table full of good food, there are also many superstitions, which we willingly believe. Some superstitions we heard from our grandmothers, some others we borrowed from other countries, but many people respect them, because they believe that many of them are related to the things that happen to them.
What are some of these superstitions that people believe about New Year's Eve and what are the things we should not do on New Year's Eve because they can bring bad luck?
The New Year doesn't have to find you in debt
Many people think that if the New Year finds you in debt, you will also spend the coming year taking on debt.
Don't finish the whole dish
The New Year should find you with a full table, so make sure you leave something on the plate and don't eat it all before the clock strikes 00:00.
Do not eat bananas
Bananas are thought to bring bad luck. If you have them at home, do not consume them on New Year's Eve, leave them for the next day (always if you are superstitious).
Avoid certain foods
Other foods to avoid are things with wings, such as chicken, as it is believed that luck flies away if you eat them. Also, you should not consume the arragosta, since it goes backwards and your luck can go the same way in the coming year.
