The war in Gaza penalizes Israel, the Jewish country may be excluded from

Israel's participation in this year's Eurovision caused much controversy due to the war in Gaza, leading to numerous protests in Malmo, Sweden. Now, the Jewish state may be excluded from the race. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has expressed deep concern following legislative proposals in Israel that could lead to privatization or reduced funding for the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation (IPBC), known as Kann.

In a letter sent to the Knesset's Economic Affairs Committee, the EBU has warned that such a step could have serious consequences for media freedom in Israel, as well as for the country's international reputation, citing Kann's involvement in the organization of Eurovision. The EBU emphasized the importance of public broadcasters as the basis of democracy, providing unbiased news and opportunities for diverse cultural expression. Proposals to privatize the IPBC could affect the stability of public media and harm the opportunity for citizens to have access to accurate and reliable information. The EBU's reaction follows concerns that it could be linked to Israel's exclusion from international competitions such as Eurovision, where the IPBC has played a key role.

Meanwhile, representatives of the Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR during a press conference revealed details about the theme and stage of the 69th edition of Eurovision after Nemo won with the song "The Code" in Malmö, Sweden. The city of Basel will host the prestigious competition at Stadion St. Jakob Park, on May 13, 15 and 17. Inspired by the Swiss tradition of direct democracy, which revolves around listening and dialogue, artistic director Artur Deyneuve chose "listening" as the central theme of the competition, calling it "Unity gives shape to love".

The ticket prices, slogan and logo of Eurovision as well as the stage where the event will be held have also been revealed. The Swiss ticket platform TicketCorner is the official ticket partner for Eurosong 2025. We recall that Nina Zizic was chosen as the new representative of Montenegro at Eurovision after the withdrawal of the group NeonoeN. This information is published on Montesong's official profiles. She will represent her country with the song "Dobrodosli". "Nina, good luck! Be happy, the preparations will start soon" - they wrote.
