The well-known businessman Behgjet Pacolli spoke this Thursday in an interview with Blendi Fevziu in "Opinion" about his personal life.
It's almost unbelievable, but he says there's a second time he's escaped death. An accident in 1980 with a car caused him serious injuries, so much so that the doctors at the hospital where he was sent considered him dead.
But it was a pad where Pacolli had written his contact numbers, the one that did the "miracle".
-At this time, when you had started working in business in Switzerland, you suffered a very serious accident.
Behgjet Pacolli: In 1980 in Ljubljana, it was the time when Tito was in the same hospital and was spending the last days of his life. I crashed in front of Ljubljana and was unconscious for 28 days.
-28 days without consciousness?! And then you stayed dressed for a long time?
Behgjet Pacolli: I was paralyzed because the photos today show that I have a construction, these holes here are... I kept a metal construction to hold me...
- Was the neck able to hold the weight of the head? Is it true that at the first moment of the accident they thought you were dead?
Behgjet Pacolli: They thought I was going to die, and the man who pulled me from that hat where we keep the dead, a doctor who was the head of the hospital whose director came only 17 minutes after I was taken to the morgue. He comes and says: where is this patient? When they take off my bloody jacket, my phone number pad rings. That girl opens the block and her eyes fall on Mahmut Bakalli.
- Who was a member of the Political Bureau of Yugoslavia...
Behgjet Pacolli: Known. She calls Bakalli and it is very interesting that she called this exact number, because there were several numbers there. He calls the number of the house, Mahmuti is notified directly there and he says: how is it possible. She tells him that Behgjet is here and is in a difficult situation. Bakalli calls his counterpart, he the director of the hospital and the latter the heart doctor. This one comes right there and the first moment they take off the white sheet and I start bleeding from the mouth. He does a bypass in the most primitive way, with a pump he cuts the vein and makes it possible for the blood to go to the brain. Because the heart and other organs here have been blocked. There everything starts to work well, but they didn't know that I was paralyzed.
