US Vice President JD Vance visits Hungary today, at an important political period for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, just days before parliamentary elections.
Recent polls show a tight race, with Orbán facing the center-right Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar.
During his visit to Budapest, Vance is expected to attend an election event alongside Orbán at a sports center in the capital. He will also hold a bilateral meeting with the prime minister and then a joint press conference.
According to the White House, his speech will focus on the relationship between the US and Hungary, with an emphasis on the strategic partnership.
Orbán, who has led Hungary since 2010 and held the post from 1998 to 2002, faces one of the most difficult political challenges. He is known for his right-wing views and his relations with Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.
