Simulations developed by EA Sports FC 26 show Spain as the main favorite to win the World Cup trophy...

As the countdown to the 2026 World Cup begins, EA has released its prediction for the team that is expected to lift the trophy at the end of the tournament. According to simulations conducted in the video game EA Sports FC 26, Spain is considered the main favorite to be declared world champion.

The World Cup kicks off on June 11, and EA's prediction is based on a simulation of all matches in the tournament, from the group stage to the final. The company says the results were produced using the new 48-team international tournament model, added in The World's Game Update.

This update allows players to compete with dozens of licensed national teams and experience a format similar to the World Cup, although EA no longer owns the official FIFA license for this competition.

According to EA, similar simulations in the past have managed to correctly predict the winners of several major international tournaments, although the results have not always been accurate. For the 2026 edition, the company's choice is clear: the Spanish national team.
