On the day that brothers Diogo Zhota and André Silva died in a road accident in Spain, another great loss touched the world of sports. Borja Gomez passed away on Thursday, on the track during the European Stock Championship.
The 20-year-old rider was training at the French Magny-Cours circuit when he skidded on a bend and was hit by another motorbike. Gomez had won his last race in Jerez in Motorsport, and this season he has also competed in the Spanish Superbike championship. Three years ago he was a factory rider in Moto 2.
" With all the pain in our hearts, we regret to announce that Borja Gómez has passed away at the Magny-Cours track after a serious accident in the first free practice session of the European Stock Championship.
Beyond his extraordinary talent as a pilot, we will remember Borja for the great man he was. His kindness and smile will last forever. We will always keep him in our hearts.
