Rei Manaj's intervention against Barish Alper Jillmaz in the meeting between Sivaspor and Gallata continues to cause debate in Turkey. Sports fans have not refrained from insulting the Albanian on social networks.
In order to put an end to all the hate on the net or hints that the intervention was intentional, the Manaj club has taken a firm stand by publishing a press release.
" We would like to emphasize that as a club we have carefully assessed the incident related to the intervention of our footballer Rei Manaj against the player of Gallatasaraj Barish Alper Jıllmaz in the last part of the match.
We do not approve of the action of our player, Rei Manaj. However, we believe that this situation should not be interpreted as if our player intentionally harmed Jillmaz. Such incidents on the pitch are a part of football and are entirely the result of spur-of-the-moment reactions within the game.
Our club strongly condemns the excessive comments aimed at Rei Manaj. It is clear that such behavior, which is against the fundamental values of the sport, condemns the future of Turkish football ," the club's post reads.
