Albania and Serbia are expected to jointly host the European Under-21 Championship for men in 2027.
The news was made known by the "Associated Press", which announced that UEFA has announced that only the Serbia-Albania bid met the deadlines set to submit detailed plans for the tournament.
Belgium and Turkey had earlier expressed interest in the bidding process scheduled to be decided at a December 16 meeting of UEFA's executive committee.
The AFL and the Serbian Football Federations joined forces in May to plan the staging of the biennial 16-team tournament, which needs eight stadiums to host 31 matches.
The head of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka, who is UEFA's vice-president, told the Associated Press in May that "it is a 100% football project" with "a very good political message that we can convey ".
The next annual congress of UEFA's 55 national federations is in Belgrade on April 3, while an executive committee meeting is expected to be held in September 2025 in Tirana.
