The match between Partizan and Elbasan, held at the "Arena e Demave" and valid for the second quarterfinal of the Albanian Cup, was accompanied by strong controversy after its conclusion.
Partizan club reacted through social networks by harshly criticizing the referee of the match, Eldorian Hamiti. According to the capital club, the penalty awarded in favor of Elbasan directly affected the qualification of the yellow-blues to the semi-finals of the Albanian Cup. In their public reaction, the reds declared the referee "non grata".
After this reaction, Elbasan's response was not long in coming. Through a post on social media, the yellow-blue club published a video with another controversial episode from the match. In the published footage, Partizan's player, Fadeiro, is seen in contact with player Kasa inside the area, while referee Hamiti continued the game and the VAR system did not intervene.
" Reaction ...", Elbasani wrote on the video published on "Instagram Story", a message that was interpreted more as an ironic response to Partizan's reaction, rather than as a direct protest against the referee's judgment.
Debates about the refereeing decisions in this match are expected to continue in the coming days, while the issue may also receive attention from the relevant Albanian football bodies.
