The Albanian national football team plays against Serbia on June 7 in Tirana, a match that is valid for Group K of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The most famous confrontation between the two teams and the one that has remained in history dates back to October 14, 2014 in Belgrade, with the match ending after only 42 minutes, after local fans entered the field and abused the Albanian players.
11 years later, the two teams will face off in an almost identical reality in terms of relations between peoples, but this time measures have been taken to limit incidents as much as possible, with 1,500 police officers and other Albanian services on standby, writes "TemA".
On the evening of October 14, 2014 in Belgrade, Elseid Hysaj, the right-back that Gianni De Biazi put on the field from the first minute, was the starting player for our team. Almost 11 years later, only Hysaj is the "survivor" of that entire team, as he will be ready for the challenge to be played in June. Of the 23 names that De Biazi had collected at that time, only the Shkodra native is still part of the National Team.
Meanwhile, on the other side, there will be three Serbian footballers who were there that evening. Goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic, midfielder Nemanja Gudelj and striker Aleksandar Mitrovic continue to be active again for the team that is now led by Dragan Stojkovic.
