
The Portuguese goalkeeper, European champion with his national team in 2016, is ending a rich career after periods at Sporting, Roma and Wolverhampton.
It's official: Rui Patricio has announced his retirement from football at the age of 37, after months without a club since playing for Al Ain in the Club World Cup last summer.
Last season, Rui Patricio, who won the European Championship and a Nations League with Portugal (in 2016 and 2019 respectively), played for Atalanta. Before that, he wore the jerseys of Roma, Wolves and Sporting Lisbon. He also won a Conference League with Roma in “Air Albania” in 2022, and with Sporting, two Super Cups, two Portuguese Cups and a League Cup.
He made his debut for Portugal in 2010 against Spain and wore the national team jersey for the last time in 2024 against Sweden.
