Lando Norris took another step towards winning the Formula 1 title, taking first place in the Las Vegas Grand Prix race...
The McLaren driver took advantage of the rainy conditions and will start ahead of Max Verstappen.
Norris seized the opportunity that presented itself to him, as if the track had remained dry, he probably wouldn't have had much hope of making it. It's worth noting that this is the first time in the history of the Las Vegas Grand Prix that the "drivers" have been asked to manage rain in qualifying.
Norris managed to hide the MCL39's shortcomings and will start the race first, with Max Verstappen's Red Bull alongside him.
Mercedes' George Russell put in a great performance in the first two sessions (setting the fastest lap) on wet tracks, but struggled with the intermediate tyres in Q3 and finished fourth.
The impressive Sainz temporarily moved into first place, but then came the faster Verstappen and Norris, who was 0.32'' faster than the Dutch World Champion.
Oscar Piastri was unlucky, as on his last lap he encountered Isak Hajar's RB and in an attempt to pass him, went off the track at turn 12.
The process was disastrous for Ferrari, with Charles Leclerc never finding the speed he wanted, and even dropping out, resulting in 9th place.
Lewis Hamilton was eliminated from Q1 after failing to get his tires working.
