Jose Mourinho's future as Real Madrid coach continues to remain unclear, as the final decision on his return is closely linked to the presidential elections at the Madrid club.
According to Spanish media reports, Real Madrid executives have prepared a two-year contract for the Portuguese coach, with the option of renewing for another season if the team is declared La Liga champion. However, the agreement cannot be made official without first confirming the re-election of current president Florentino Perez.
Meanwhile, Mourinho is said to have submitted a detailed report on the summer transfer window, calling for immediate action in defence and midfield. The list of players who could leave includes names such as Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Sebajos.
At the same time, Antonio Rudiger's situation still remains unclear, as the German defender's contract expires on June 30 and there is still no new agreement between the parties.
To secure Mourinho's return to the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid are expected to pay a compensation that could reach up to 14 million euros.
Everything is expected to take a clearer direction after June 7, the date when Florentino Perez will face the candidate Enrique Riquelme in the elections. The latter has publicly expressed reservations about Mourinho's return, supporting more a long-term project for the future of the Madrid club.
It remains to be seen whether "The Special One" will return to the Real Madrid bench.
