Harry Kane under surveillance, what is happening with Bayern Munich's

Harry Kane's wait for a trophy could soon be over as Bayern Munich sit 6 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table ahead of their clash with Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker on Saturday.

But this comes at a time when he is under scrutiny.

The England captain missed three good chances to score in Bayern's 2-1 home defeat to Inter Milan in the Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night. These are the nights when he is expected to make the difference for his team.

Kane has scored 23 goals in the Bundesliga this season and will be looking to win the top scorer award again. He has also scored 10 goals in the Champions League, scoring in both legs against Bayer Leverkusen in the last 16. But there is still demand for more.

After all, Kane wasn't recruited just to deliver the Bundesliga title that Bayern had won 11 times in a row prior to his arrival.

But former Tottenham and Bayern striker Jurgen Klinsmann has some sympathy.

"He has a similar situation to what I had at club level," says Klinsmann. The German striker had already won the World Cup for his country in 1990, but was 30 when he joined Bayern. "By the time I left Spurs and went to Bayern, I had not yet won a club title," he said.

"I've always said that if Harry leaves Spurs at some point, he will have that opportunity to win titles with his club team. And obviously, going to Bayern Munich, the probability is very high. Usually, they are always favourites for the domestic title.

I'm very excited for him because he deserves it so much. In my opinion, he was very close with the Euros, obviously, with the final, and it didn't work out with the national team yet. Maybe next year in the United States for the World Cup.

"But at club level, I'm excited that he's probably six points ahead now. We'll see after the weekend. But he has that big opportunity now to win his first trophy in Germany. And then let's see what happens now with Inter," Klinsmann said.

How important is Kane for Bayern?

"He is extremely important for the Bayern team. And he has done a fantastic job from day one. He came in when Lewandowski had gone to Barcelona. Bayern had gone a season without a natural striker and there was a gap to fill. Bayern Munich has a great tradition of number nines. The greatest number nine to ever play for Bayern Munich is undoubtedly Gerd Müller. And he is no longer with us. But there is always a very special eye on the number 9 at Bayern Munich.

"To fill that spot, it's also an honor, you know. It's really something very, very special. I was able to live it for two years at a time [between 1995 and 1997]," Klinsmann said.

On the pitch, Bayern's squad is prepared to supply him with the likes of Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala providing the movement around him. It's a recipe for scoring goals - 44 of them last season for Bayern and another 34 in all competitions this time.

"He seems to click well with the players around him. He plays in a system where he feeds off the attacking midfielders. He's not playing a double number nine, two strikers like Inter, for example, with Lautaro [Martinez] and Marcus Thuram.

"But he's been used to exactly that style of play from Spurs over so many years, so he just changed the environment. When he went from London to Munich, he would play the same type of football. And that's all. I mean, I just want to watch him."
