Former England footballer Rio Ferdinand has revealed that he is facing serious health issues after retiring from football. In an interview with Men's Health UK, the 47-year-old revealed that his numerous injuries, particularly his back problems, continue to plague him, forcing him to be hospitalized or temporarily confined to a wheelchair.
Ferdinand explains that for about six years of his career he played under the influence of painkillers and injections, which has negatively affected his long-term health. According to him, the pain attacks come on suddenly and are severe, significantly limiting mobility.
Despite changing his lifestyle and moving to Dubai to pursue new body care methods, the former defender admits he has to live with this difficult reality, as a direct result of the traumas suffered over the years in top-level football.
