The Southampton team won today what is described as the most expensive game in English football, the Championship play-off final for promotion to the Premier League. Armando Broja's former team beat Leeds 1-0 and secured their presence in the English football elite for the next season. 

Southampton were relegated the year before and failed to secure direct promotion to the top flight as Leister and Ipswich secured the top two places in the Championship. But in the end they managed to triumph at "Wembley" against Leeds, with Armstrong's goal in the first half sealing the 1-0 success. 

This victory makes it possible for Southampton to return with a significant check to invest in the market, as thanks to the division of TV rights in the Premier League, it will secure 180 million pounds immediately. Therefore, it is no coincidence that this is considered the most expensive match of English football.
