The former Colombian midfielder of Inter, Fredy Guarin, has spoken about his addiction to alcohol and the consequences it has had in his life.
For the magazine 'Semana', he revealed the difficult moments, which include the loss of friends from the situations he had, as he added that he will now change.
"I have lost friends and made my children and family members suffer. I have tried to stop on several occasions, but now I really want to get off of it. Unfortunately, at some point I allowed myself to get distracted and turned to alcohol. I made a lot of mistakes, made bad decisions, hurt a lot of people, made my loved ones and my friends feel bad. In social networks, I have been immortalized in bad or strange situations, because alcohol has always been the worst trigger for everything that has happened to me , "said the footballer.
Guarin, who also scored the winning goal in a derby for Inter in September 2015, continued with the details, namely family.
"I am 100% alcoholic and I admit it. I am a recovering addict. A few years when I left Millonarios (in 2021) I reached the lowest point, because in those years my addiction became very serious, I no longer worked in training, I had lost the trust of dignity towards loved ones and most importantly.
The precious thing that I have, that is my three children, I have lost a lot of things on a sentimental and love level, but I have always had a relapse and I had to ask for help from some professionals that I am working with to fix things, to regain the trust of my children, relatives and friends.
This time, however, everything is different and this is the final time. I have already knocked on the devil's door and it is not the best. I already know which path is not and that the path is God who gives me strength every day and a sober and healthy life, so that I can give my children all the love I have for them" , declared the footballer. / TCH
