The Albanian Football Federation has made public the decision of the Appeals Committee regarding Egnatia coach Edlir Tetova. According to this decision, the disciplinary measure against him has been reduced from a six-month suspension to three months.
However, despite the reduction of the sentence, the situation remains difficult for Tetovo. The football season is coming to an end and the time available does not favor his return to the bench. The only option left for the coach is to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Tetovo was initially punished after the incident in the match against Vllaznia, when the Egnatia team was withdrawn from the field for several minutes. The reason for this reaction was the red card punishment of player Xhemajli.
As a result of this decision, Egnatia will continue the remainder of the season without its coach on the bench.
Appeals Committee Decision:
After considering the complaint of the official of the Egnatia Football Club, Mr. Edlir Tetova,
It notes that:
With decision no. 34, point 20 dated 18.03.2026, it has decided to take the following disciplinary measure against the official of the Egnatia Football Club, Mr. Edlir Tetova:
The official of KF Egnatia, Edlir Tetova, for violating the principles of fair play, not respecting the laws of the game and acting contrary to the integrity and reputation of the activity, due to the withdrawal of the team from the game, based on articles 6/2/a, 8/1 and 13 of the KDE, is sentenced to 6 (six) months suspension from all activities organized by the Albanian Football Association.
On 03.04.2026, the official of KF Egnatia, Edlir Tetova, filed a complaint with the following subject:
1-Abolition of Decision No. 35, dated 18.03.2026, of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Albanian Football Federation, as unfounded in law and evidence.
Alternatively:
2-Requalification of the disciplinary violation attributed by the Disciplinary and Ethics Commission and taking a disciplinary measure in accordance with Article 14 of the Code of Discipline and Ethics of the Albanian Football Federation
DISCIPLINARY AND ETHICS APPEAL COMMISSION
After being acquainted with the report of the Technical Secretariat, reviewing the submitted documentation and discussing the issues in their entirety, and based on articles 65 et seq. of the Code of Discipline and Ethics,
DECIDED:
1-Change of decision.
2-Sentencing the official of KF Egnatia, Edlir Tetova, based on articles 6/2/a, 8, 13 and 14/1/j of the KDE, with a 3 (three) month suspension from all activities organized by the Albanian Football Association.
