Kristian Shpendi is still waiting for an invitation from the Albanian National Football Team, but coach Silvinjo has not yet considered the Albanian youngster, even though he has done well in the last two seasons in the Italian Serie C and B.
But while the appreciation with an invitation to the National Team is not coming from Albania, in Italy the Albanian striker continues to be highly appreciated and yesterday he was honored with the prestigious "Gianni Di Marzio" award.
The award for the Albanian striker was given in recognition of his work and progress in these two years, which have turned him into one of the most famous names in Italian football thanks to his appearances and goals with Cesena. The striker received the trophy from the renowned Italian journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio, who presented the trophy, which was placed in memory of his father, during the festive night "Gran Galà dello Sport".
" I am honored to receive this award, as I know the values of the person to whom it is dedicated. Gianni Di Marzio is part of the history of Italian football and for the values that have distinguished him in his career, for me he undoubtedly represents an example from which to be inspired ," were the words of the Albanian striker after receiving the award that bears the name of the famous former coach. In an evening where several figures of Italian football were honored, including Cesare Prandelli.
