Expected to debut against Albania, the unique case of the English defender:

Newcastle defender Dan Byrne is enjoying the best period of his career. Nothing is impossible for the 32-year-old, who, despite being so young, has been called up for the first time by England. Byrne, who could make his debut against Albania in the first World Cup qualifier, gave a very interesting interview to the official website of the national team.

" I've had worse weeks. When it was six o'clock on Thursday evening and I hadn't heard anything, I told my wife that I don't think anything will happen. Then I got a text saying 'am I still awake?'. Tuhelj told me that he had called everyone who didn't make it to the team, so I thought again that I didn't make it. But then he said that he wanted to end the day in a good mood and that he wanted me in the team.

"I didn't come as a fan, I want to play. I want to impress as much as possible and secure an invitation to the next match. Obviously every kid dreams of playing in the World Cup. So to know that I could have that opportunity is special. When you go through so many national team training camps, you kind of accept that time has passed. But luckily the new coach has given me a chance ," says Dan Byrne.
