Lazio looks set to continue its special relationship with Albanian footballers, a tradition that has been strengthened over the years, especially during the period when Igli Tare held the position of sporting director of the Italian club. Even after his departure, Elseid Hysaj, who was one of the players of the capital team for five seasons, remained part of the white and blue team.
The Albanian national team defender is expected to end his adventure with Lazio at the end of this season, as his contract expires and the parties do not seem to be continuing their cooperation.
However, according to Italian media, another Albanian footballer could take over the reins at the Roman club. It is Kristian Shpendi, the young striker who is active in Serie B and who has attracted the attention of Lazio's management.
The Blue and Whites are reportedly looking for low-cost alternatives for the attacking department and Shpendi is considered an interesting profile, thanks to his positive performances in the last two seasons. The young age and the relatively affordable price tag are factors that make the Albanian striker a priority target for the Italian club.
Kristian Shpendi made his debut with the Albanian national team last year, in a friendly match against Gibraltar, where he even managed to win a penalty for the red and black team.
