Florentino Perez will remain at the helm of Real Madrid, despite recent speculation about a possible departure from the management of the Madrid club. The president of “Los Blancos” appeared this Tuesday in a surprise press conference, where he announced that new elections for the presidency of the club will be announced, three years before the end of the current mandate, which was expected to end in 2029.
Perez's appearance before the media came after numerous allusions in the media and social networks regarding his health condition, as well as claims that he was tired of running the club.
The Real Madrid president categorically denied these rumors, stating that he has no intention of resigning and that his health is very good.
" I thank you all very much for your participation. I regret to inform you that I will not be resigning. I have asked the board of directors to begin the process of announcing elections for the board ," Perez declared at the beginning of the conference.
He added that a situation has been created against him and the club that, according to him, is being used for personal attacks.
" An absurd situation has been created against Real Madrid and against me. You don't always win, but we won't accept that. They are taking advantage of this situation to attack me. Where is Florentino? Some say I'm sick, that I have cancer ," he said.
Perez also thanked everyone who has taken an interest in his condition, stressing that he continues to lead both Real and his company.
" I want to take this opportunity to thank those who are worried about me. I am still president of the club and my company, which has a turnover of 50 billion a year. My health is perfect. If they told me I had cancer, I would have to go to a treatment center. It would have been all over the world. It is not true and this rumor has spread ," Perez declared.
