The death of Diogo Jota is still fresh in everyone's mind and Liverpool have decided to carry out a series of lifelong tributes to remember the footballer.
The first has already been confirmed by the Reds, the number 20 will be retired and will never again be worn by the club's players, at any level, including youth teams.
The second tribute will consist of the creation of a statue in his honor, which will be made from items left outside Anfield Road.
These items will be recycled and used to create a “central memorial point” in front of Anfield Road. “In the meantime, a temporary area” remains in place to allow fans to continue to pay tribute to the Portuguese international with flowers, scarves and shirts. Furthermore, it is still possible to personalise official shirts with the name “Diogo J. 20” in official Liverpool stores, as profits from these sales will go directly to the Liverpool Foundation, which “has committed to creating a programme in the name of Diogo Jota”.
The final tribute will have to wait until August 15, during the home match against Bournemouth, a minute's silence and choreography dedicated to the fans will be held.
