Inter has achieved another important victory in the championship, defeating Lecce 0-2 away, in the match valid for the 26th week of Serie A. The black and blue team thus records its seventh consecutive victory in the championship and consolidates its position at the top of the standings.
The first half of the game was characterized by a slow tempo and few clear-cut scoring chances. Inter's best chance came in the 23rd minute, when Markus Thuram found himself in front of goal, but failed to convert, missing a favorable opportunity. The first 45 minutes ended with the nets untouched.
Inter came out stronger in the second half and found the net in the 51st minute through Federico Dimarco, after an assist from Thuram. However, after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed for offside by the French striker in the build-up to the play.
The breakthrough came in the 75th minute. After a corner kick taken by Dimarko, Henrikh Mkhitaryan took advantage inside the area and sent the ball into the net with a right-footed shot.
Four minutes later, Dimarko had the chance to double the score, but failed to convert. The safety goal came in the 82nd minute, again from a Dimarko corner kick. This time, Manuel Akanji broke away in the area and headed in the final score of 0-2.
With this victory, Inter leads the standings by 10 points over Milan, taking an important step in the title race. The team's attention will now focus on the return match against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League, scheduled for Tuesday.
