Security checks at the 'Milano Cortina 2026' Winter Olympic Games are quite detailed; metal detectors and checks spare no one, even tents with peaks are confiscated and returned at the entrance.
But the Val di Fiemme open-air ski stadium in Lago di Tesero could not have foreseen the arrival of a husky named Nazgul on the track during the qualifications for the women's team sprint.
The dog, who was wearing a collar and had probably escaped from his owner, happily greeted several runners near the finish line. He focused particularly on Slovenian Lucija Medja and Argentine Nahiara Diaz Gonzalez. Fortunately, they were not hurt, it was just an unplanned incident that entertained spectators in the stands and on television.
According to Eurosport, the dog is named Nazgul and is owned by Alice Varesco, a former skier who once lived near the track. Images of the dog on the track have immediately gone viral on social media and will surely be one of the most special episodes of 'Milano-Cortina 2026'.
