Rei Manaj, the striker of the moment in the Albanian National Team, has returned once again to talk about the experience in Turkey, which he chose last summer, with a three-year contract with Sivaspor.
Asked if he knew some Turkish words, Manaj says: "Definitely yes, tamam, bismilah, ajran are words that we also use in Albania", says the 27-year-old. Then he touches on his childhood story where he says: " In 1997, Albania went through difficult months, but I don't like to stop too much at this point, as I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me. This is how my parents taught me, whom I thank for everything they have done for me ".
Football as a child - Manaj further explains that the connection with football has been special since childhood. " When I was little, I finished school and played football with my friends all afternoon. Then on the weekends I accompanied my father, as he also played with his friends. Sometimes I would go in there and play. It all started there. I grew up watching the phenomenon Ronaldo, who is also my idol ," said Manaj.
Transfer to Turkey - After a difficult experience in England, Manaj tells how the transfer to the Turkish championship came about: " The president of Sivaspor was the first to call me when I was still injured. I had followed this team a year ago, as they played against Fiorentina. Then I received several calls from several other Turkish clubs, but I wanted to play with Sivaspor, after I had given the word to the president. Now I think I made the right choice ," said the 27-year-old.
The experience in England - Rei also talks about the difficult situation he went through in England where he was part of Watford. " I had a bad period in England, not because of the level of football there, but simply because I didn't adapt to the way they worked. I was used to working out in the gym once a week, while in England they went every day ," says Lushnjari.
Fantastic form - The striker explains what is behind his good form in Turkey. " I am used to football, having signed for my first club at the age of 16. Now I feel good because I am dedicated to this sport. I look at it with great passion. I come to training three to four hours before and I am very careful with my food. I like to eat a lot of baklava, but I hold myself back because I have to run a lot. I prefer to consume it after matches. My desire is to send Sivaspor among the five best teams in Turkey , "says Manaj, who was assembled by Silvinho for the two friendlies that Albania played last month. The forward is also expected to be on the list of players for the next two friendlies before the European Championship, as he has scored 20 goals so far between the championship and the Cup.
