In recent days, Brazilian journalist Rodolfo Gomes caused a complete scandal in the world of football by exposing the Santos star's alleged unprofessional habits. He reported that Neymar abuses whiskey and energy drinks, smokes hookah and sleeps late, staying up late in training despite the encouragement of his teammates.
Neymar himself responded with irony, posting an Instagram story featuring an energy drink, but his father and agent, Neymar Sr., did not take the matter lightly. In an official statement, he announced that the journalist would be prosecuted for defamation: “The frivolous, defamatory and false statements of Rodolfo Gomes about Neymar Jr. will be the subject of all necessary legal action to protect the honor and image of the athlete. ”
The statement also highlights how the spread of fake news damages not only the footballer's reputation, but also the credibility of journalism: " Disinformation undermines trust in serious and responsible journalism. Such behavior, in addition to being ethically unacceptable, is illegal and will not be tolerated ."
Neymar will now have to face this legal issue as well, while the Brazilian's father and associates promise to firmly protect his image and privacy.
