Sergio Busquets will end his career at the age of 37 at the end of the MLS season, after 18 seasons at the highest level.
The Catalan midfielder, who has been in America for three years, will end his career based on Inter Miami's progress in the playoffs, which begin in October and end in December.
Among the first to pay tribute to Busquets was Sergio Ramos, a historic rival in many battles between Barcelona and Real Madrid, but also a teammate on the Spanish national team, with whom they won the 2010 World Cup.
Ramos wrote on social media:
" Busi, you are the definition of being extraordinary without ceasing to be a normal person. A rival most of the time, a teammate at others, you have always excelled with class, vision and quality, but above all, with your humility and authenticity."
"Football loses one of the greatest midfielders I have ever played with. Thank you for being a great player, teammate and friend. I wish you all the best for the future ."
