From the regulation and formula to the final on July 14, everything you need to

The 17th edition of the European Championship will officially start on June 14 and, after the traveling edition of 2020 (it was actually played in 2021 due to Covid-19), it will once again be held in a single venue. In fact, Germany will host "EURO 2024". From the opening match of the group stage to the final, all the challenges will take place on German soil, in 10 different stadiums.

At the start there will be 24 national teams that will try to follow a trophy won three years ago by Roberto Mancini's Italy, but now with coach Luciano Spalletti. Exactly as has happened since the 2016 edition, played in France, in "EURO 2024" there will be 24 national teams on the starting line of the tournament.

The 24 national teams that qualified for the final stage of "EURO 2024" were divided by lot into 6 groups (with 4 teams each). Each national team will face the opponents in their group only once and at the end the ranking will be drawn up. The top two of each group will qualify for the 1/8 finals. To these 12 national teams, the best 4 of the third place will be added, to create the complete picture.

Stage with direct elimination

After the list of qualified players has been completed, 16 national teams will start the elimination phase directly, specifically from the 1/8 finals. In this round we will have a single match each and the 8 winning national teams will advance to the quarterfinals. It will then be followed by the semi-finals and the final. The final decisive match will reward the winners of the trophy on the night of July 14, 2024 at the "Olympiastadion" in Berlin.

Extra time and penalties

In the event that the group stage matches end in a draw, each national team will receive one point in the ranking, while what will happen from the 1/8 final onwards is very different.

If a match in the direct elimination stage ends in a draw, it will go to extra time (two halves of 15 minutes each) and possibly a penalty shootout. This procedure will be valid for the 1/8 finals, quarterfinals, semi-finals and the final.

Is there a final for third place?
