Etri Berisha's future at Haken remains unclear, despite the important role the Albanian goalkeeper has had in the Swedish team, including appearances in European competitions.
The 36-year-old, who has made history with the Albanian national team, has revealed that he has been dealing with serious back problems for some time. According to him, the main cause is related to the artificial grass on which Haken trains and plays.
Berisha explains that his condition improves significantly when he plays or trains on natural grass, while on artificial grass the pain immediately worsens. He admitted that during the last season he was forced to take medication every day, especially during periods of heavy match load.
" When we train on natural grass it's better, but on artificial grass it gets worse immediately. I took pills every day last season, because there were too many matches and I didn't listen to my body ," Berisha said in an interview with Swedish media.
The Albanian goalkeeper has announced that he will soon undergo a specialized medical examination in Norway, on which the decision about his future is expected to depend.
" I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. I'll talk to the doctor and hopefully then make a decision ," he stated.
Asked about the possibility of leaving Haken if doctors suggest he avoid training in such conditions, Berisha did not rule out this scenario: " Yes, it could happen ."
The final decision is expected to be made after medical consultations, while the future of one of the most important figures in Albanian football remains open.
