The security briefing for the second leg of the Champions League semi-final between PSG and Arsenal, which will be played on Wednesday at 9pm, was held this Monday afternoon. The match, as such, does not cause any particular concern for the public authorities, as no major disputes have been identified between fans of the two clubs.
However, the National Division for the Fight against Hooliganism (DNLH) was considering classifying this match as 3 out of 5, which, according to its scale, means: "risk of public order disorders related to a dispute between fans, or the usual behavior of some fans". But this classification is likely to change before the match depending on the latest information.
The Paris police prefecture will mobilize six forces (one force is equivalent to approximately 80 police officers) of the CRS, or mobile gendarmes, to ensure the smooth running of the match around the Parc des Princes, but also in various places in the capital where there are fears of incidents or excesses, especially if Parisian supporters decide to celebrate the club's qualification for the final after the match.
Between 300 and 500 English fans without tickets...
2,000 Arsenal fans - their quota has been limited by the police for several years - are expected in the visitors' section reserved for them. Others could also come without tickets and watch the match from bars or restaurants in the capital. The English are expecting 300, but police believe there will be around 500. This situation is causing concern among the police, who fear clashes like those that broke out the day before the match against Aston Villa (3-1), between representatives of Genoa and Villa fans.
Although PSG did not appreciate the hospitality given to them by Arsenal in the first leg (only 160 seats for officials), they have decided to respect UEFA regulations and will give 200 seats to the English delegation, the players' families and English VIPs.
