Olympique Lyonnais will continue to play in Ligue 1. The Court of Appeal has accepted the club's appeal, invalidating the decision taken by the French football financial control body, which relegated the team to a lower division due to financial problems.
After considering the matter, it was deemed reasonable that Lyon should not be penalized so heavily, despite the irregularities.
" Today's decision is the first step in restoring confidence in Olympique Lyonnais. We can now focus our attention on our sporting objectives, fully preparing for the next season, " the club wrote.
This decision by the DNCG Appeal Committee means that Lyon also has the opportunity to play in the Europa League next season.
