Lando Norris received a five million dollar championship bonus, plus bonuses for his seven wins, for a total of $30 million in 2025.
McLaren is not one of the teams with the greatest financial resources currently, their salaries are limited compared to the other three big teams, even compared to Aston Martin and even more so considering they are a two-time world constructors' champion team.
For most teams, except Ferrari, Red Bull or Mercedes, the prevailing rule in contracts is 5/3/1, that is, five for the driver's title, three for second position and one for third place.
Almost everyone also receives bonuses for every victory and podium finish in every race, which can be estimated at around half a million. For Lando Norris, apart from the Champions Cup, which is the first and will be the most important for the rest of his life, the year 2025 has been very profitable financially.
His salary (always an estimate) is around $20 million with McLaren, plus $4 million for his eight race wins and another $5 million for the World Championship title. With the remaining prizes, it can be estimated that he will earn around $30 million in total, including prize money and salary.
This would make him the fourth highest-paid driver, far behind Verstappen, Hamilton (zero podiums) or even Leclerc, having achieved seven podiums and no wins in 2025.
Piastri, for his part, will earn one million for third place in the World Championship, in addition to bonuses for wins (7, the same as Lando) and podium positions, which could leave him with $10 million in earnings this year.
Team sponsors usually have these additional conditions if the World Championship is won, so it won't make much difference for McLaren compared to last year.
